Mulato II is a non-GMO, fast-growing three-way hybrid forage grass (Urochloa ruziziensis × U. decumbens × U. brizantha) it thrives in warm-season and transition zones (including Florida sandy soils), prefers well-drained sites and 6+ hours of sun, tolerates drought, reaches up to 9 ft, and is excellent for pasture, cattle forage, hay, green manure and erosion control. It germinates in 7–14 days under optimal conditions, should be planted 1/4–3/8" (no deeper than 3/4") in spring or summer when nights are ≥65°F, produces high biomass with cuttings every 40–45 days in wet season (60–70 days in cool season), offers 14–21% crude protein and good digestibility, and has delivered 0.4–0.6 kg/day weight gains in young heifers at 4–6/ha. Great for chop and drop, agroforestry, meat and milk production for livestock.
